how to form an opinion unlike anyone else's & deconstructing "the slap" with Carla Savetsky and boyfriend Mike
Show Notes

Ever wonder where your opinions come from? Or, more likely, have you wondered where the hell other people seem to be getting their totally misinformed opinions?

We talk about that, using "the slap" heard 'round the world, as a starting point, in two separate guest conversations, first with Carla Savetsky, PA-MS, and then with our second (and return) guest, boyfriend Mike.

We quote from the New York Times, and a conversation between theater critics Maya Phillips and Jesse Green, and generally riff on the idea of opinions and the culture at large.

Do you think we should be allowed to change our opinion? Or, once formed, are we committed to seeing it through forever? What's the difference between an opinion and a feeling? How do we stop feeling like we're going to get in trouble if we have an opinion that's unpopular? How can we invite more people (the whole wide world??) into a dialogue experience, instead of endless polarizing debates?

We also touch on the topic of gossip, where it can create connection instead of dissonance, and take a moment to peruse the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard hearings. It's fun all around, in other words!

First up, my convo with Carla, followed by my lively chat with my boyfriend, Mike. You can also hear from him in Episode 37,  Staying the Course.
